We Have Some Drama

Don't worry--the drama isn't related to the baby. She seems to still have her noggin happily nestled up by my heart (sweet, right?) and I haven't shown any sign of going into early labor. No, the drama is related to that house we've had a crush on since early February. Remember how much we want that house?
So, I don't want to bore you with the (confusing and conviluted) details, but the short version is that the house has gone into full foreclosure, thus making it easier for us to actually purchase (theoretically). As I mentioned before, we wanted to send an offer asap, so we did, even though the guy who is the "manager" of the property (on behalf of the bank that owns it?) said it wasn't on the market yet and he didn't know what the price would be. Since it had gone to foreclosure, we lowered the amount from our previous offer a bit but didn't go much lower because we wanted him to know we were serious. We sent our offer about 1.5 weeks ago and have been waiting to hear something.
Apparently the house listed as for sale on MLS yesterday--luckily our realtor saw the listing because we got no heads up from the manager who has our offer--and they have listed the price significantly lower than our offer! We were really surpised. Now we have lowered our offer (because who wants to pay $30k more than the asking price if you don't need to?) but we're told there is another offer on the table. There is no way for us to know how much the other offer is, so we've had to make our offer and just hope that it beats the other one.
I guess I can sum it up by saying, "Please pray that God will either open this door and give us this house, or that he'll slam the door shut so that it's very clear to us that we need to give up on this house and move on." I've gotta say that it sure feels like the timing is very "Seth and Sarah." We tend to have major life events all jam themselves into the same small time period. So baby and house during the same week sounds about right! I would be in no way surprised if at some point Seth finds himself in a hallway of Labor and Delivery, taking a call from our realtor about the possibility of a counter offer. Gracious. Thanks for caring about us and our drama. We'll keep you posted!

  1. Wow, these both sound like potentially good drama though! Who knows--you might look back on this as "the year we got a baby and a house"! Praying that God will give you wisdom and peace in large measure.
