One Step Forward!

Very exciting news: our offer has been accepted! This is particularly exciting because the situation was a bit more complicated than I had previously understood. The seller had actually signed a contract on the first offer, so they had to cancel it in order to go with our offer. The people who made the first offer started to have second thoughts, made changes to their contract, and basically opened the door for the seller to cancel the contract and accept our offer. So it's a big step forward in the process, but the house is by no means ours yet. Next up: approval of the sale by the bank. As I mentioned before, this is complicated because it's a short sale, and banks are known for taking their jolly sweet time in making a decision on short sales. So it could actually be months until we have an answer. We hope we'll hear sooner than that, but I think we'll definitely have to be patient. Assuming the bank approves the sale, we then go to inspection. That's when we might have the pleasure of discovering something terribly wrong with the house, in which case we have the option of cancelling our offer. So there is still a long way to go and there are still many more doors to walk through. Our continued prayer is for God to open or close doors in accordance with his good plan for our lives. We aren't wise enough to know what is best for us, so we are trusting God and asking for his direction.
