4th of July

Seth and I are back from a great long weekend with our friends (Sean & Laura) in western Pennsylvania. We stayed at Sean's parents' house along with his sister, brother-in-law, and their very cute kids. Other family and friends came into town for fun, festivities, and a traditional Mansell family cook-out at their lake. We enjoyed a hike through their orchard and woods (below). We ate (twice!) at the local Coney Island, home of the cheddar chili dog, we visited an Amish couple that are friends of the family, made exciting visits to the Apple Castle and Cheese House (purveyors of apples, cheese, and much more), and generally had a great time. We're back at home now, and while I catch up on laundry and errands, Seth is still playing the waiting game about the job. As far as we know, the plan is to have everything figured out by the end of the week so that Seth can sign the paperwork and get this thing official. We want to be happy about it, but we also don't want to count our eggs before they hatch. So, to extend the metaphor, I guess the eggs are moving around and shaking a little, but not quite hatching yet. Prayers still appreciated. We still haven't planned when we'll make it to Seattle this year. We also want to make it to Europe. But so many things hinge on what happens with this job (and the timing of it). For now, we're trying to be patient, enjoy the lovely summer, and appreciate all the blessings God has given us. We've been given a lot and we're grateful.
