Farewell, June

Wow, that month went fast...which is interesting because it seems like other things have been going slowly (Seth's interview/hiring process, my back pain recovery, our trip planning). There is definitely some good news about Seth's interview process: the company has made an offer, so that is fantastic! The less-than-fantastic news is that before Seth can legally accept the other, several serious wrinkles need to be ironed out between the hiring company and the placement company that found Seth his current project. It's a long (uninteresting) story about legal contracts, but we hope and pray that it will be resolved soon. And then, when it's really real, we will celebrate big time! I am still slowly but surely recovering from my back pain caused by my lower back/pelvis being out of alignment. Yesterday (perhaps overcome with sympathy on my behalf), Seth tweaked his own lower back in a freak incident of reaching for the shampoo in the shower and having it go wrong. So this morning we both eased ourselves gingerly into the car and spent a few hours at the chiropractor's office. Are we getting old or something? On Friday, I had a very fun day exploring more of my new state of residence. Stephanie took a day off of work and we played hooky in the western part of the state. We went to the beautiful Anderson Japanese Gardens (pictured below) and Midway Village, a Victorian village (1890 to 1910) of historical buildings and artifacts. We had a great time and it was fun to get out of town for the day. The summer here continues to be absolutely enjoyable. Not too humid, not too hot, and plenty of sunshine. We're loving it! Sure, there are more mosquitoes, but we are surviving. And, for those of you following my gardening saga: we stapled bird netting around our back porch and now I am vigorously attempting a second crop of zucchini. With the porch "screened" in, the cat is now free to flop on the porch and enjoy the sights and smells of the great outdoors. We're looking forward to a fun holiday weekend with our friends Sean, Laura, & baby Lulu at Sean's parents' home in Pennsylvania.
