Moving Day!
Oh boy, oh boy! Our pods arrived yesterday and the fun is well under way! By "fun" I mean that we've started unloading a lot of boxes and the new apartment is already a big mess. It's wonderful! After "being" here for six weeks without really feeling like we're "living" here yet, it's very exciting to feel like we're finally taking steps towards settling in. The pods get picked up tomorrow morning, so today will be very busy. But it's fun because each thing we unpack is like a Christmas present. "Oh yea, our lamp! Oh look, our dishes! Remember this end table? It's really a cute end table." (Okay, maybe it's only me making joyful exclamations while Seth heaves another heavy box up the stairs.)
We are moving into a very cute 2 bd/2 ba second floor apartment. It's technically a townhouse in a complex of townhouses, but it's apartment-like in that it's one floor and there is another unit below us. We also have a one-car garage which will come in very handy this winter. Speaking of winter, it was 34 degrees for the high yesterday and WINDY. Our faces and hands are dry and chapped. Forecast for the weekend: potential snow and ice storm. Welcome to Chicagoland!
A special thanks to the Nachtigal/Calvert family for a wonderful Thanksgiving in Sacramento. It was really good to see everyone (and to enjoy some 60+ degree days while we could). Well, time to go do some unloading.
yay! happy new house!
ReplyDeleteummm, kind of mad here. evan's exclamation wasn't that favorable. he said to tell you it "wasn't bereft of expletives." remember us, evan and alicia? remember where we're from? CALIFORNIA. yes, we were there, 1 hour from Sacramento and BORED for 7 whole days over Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeletewe still love you, but we're sorry to have missed you :-) maybe next time?
